With over 10 years of experience, Federico Barbieri was born in Ferrara, Italy. After earning a degree in Economics, he moved to Milan and embarked on a career as a fashion photographer. Federico works both in Italy and internationally, bringing his distinctive style and expertise to a global audience. He has a unique ability to capture the essence of the people he photographs, making his work highly sought after by commercial clients, fashion editorials, and portrait projects.
His photography is defined by versatility, combining a strong appreciation for both controlled studio settings and the freedom of on-location shoots. Among all options, Federico has a marked preference for natural light, which he believes brings a timeless authenticity to his work. His creative process is rooted in meticulous research and marked by an intuitive, almost abstract approach to his subjects. By encouraging models to experiment and explore their own personal expressions, his images are imbued with a distinctive energy, presence, and spontaneity. The result is a body of work that exudes subtle elegance and timeless appeal.
Federico is currently a freelance photographer, collaborating with renowned fashion brands such as Christian Dior, Gucci, Bulgari, Cartier, Armani, Trussardi, Canali, Hogan, and prestigious publications including Vanity Fair, Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, South China Morning Post, and Numéro among others.
In addition to his photography career, Federico is a private pilot and enjoys flying across Italy in his free time.
